In 2017, Växjö DFF won Elitettan and went up to Damallsvenskan for the first time. Five years later, in 2022, the same thing happened again. Between those two promotions sits most of what there is to say about a side founded in 2014.

Neither spell at the top produced anything like silverware. The nearest Växjö have come to marking themselves out among Sweden's leading women's clubs is seventh place in Damallsvenskan, in 2018, a finish they have not matched since — sixth in 2020, then a run of mid-table and lower positions through to tenth in 2025. In the Svenska Cupen the club has never got out of the group stage, though 2023/2024 came close, with a second-place finish in Group 1.

The club plays at Spiris Arena, a ground built for 12,000 that has gone through several sponsor names — Myresjöhus Arena, Visma Arena, Växjö Arena among them — before settling on its current one. It shares the city with Växjö Lakers, the ice hockey club, and the two are not the same organisation, whatever their overlapping colours and shared sponsor might suggest; they run separate operations that occasionally line up for joint events.

Rivalry in Småland has tended to mean Vittsjö GIK, whose meetings with Växjö get treated by local papers as the fixture that matters most in the region, with Ljungby IF filling a similar role at lower level. Växjö have never held a trophy in the top flight, and after ten years shuttling between two divisions, that remains the gap in the record.
