About the player
Emanuel Olivera's career has taken him back and forth between Argentina and Colombia. He came through Vélez Sarsfield, making his debut in March 2010, before a run through Almirante Brown and Boca Unidos took him to Colón in July 2016 under coach Paolo Montero. It was at Colón that he had his defining moment: in the 2019 Copa Sudamericana final, Olivera scored in a 3–1 defeat to Independiente del Valle.
He left Colón after a contract termination in January 2021 and moved to Atlético Nacional in Colombia, where he won the Copa Colombia in 2021 and the Liga Águila the following year. A brief return to Argentina with Banfield in early 2023 did not last long, and by July of that year he was back in Colombia as a free agent, this time at Junior. There he won the Liga Águila again in 2023 and, in 2024, established himself as a regular starter, appearing in 39 league matches and 48 in all competitions. His contract expired at the end of December 2024, and although he had verbally agreed a renewal, the paperwork was not finalised before he left for the off-season, and the move fell through.
Olivera signed for Independiente Santa Fe as a free agent in January 2025, continuing the pattern of moves without a transfer fee that has defined the second half of his career. He was part of the Santa Fe squad that won the Liga Águila in 2025.
