About the player
Weibmar Asprilla came up through the youth ranks at Independiente Medellín, and for two seasons, from 2019 to 2021, he sat on the first-team roster without making an official league appearance. That spell was not without reward: he was part of the squad that won the Copa BetPlay in both 2019 and 2020.
His path to regular football ran through loan spells away from Medellín. He made his professional debut in 2021 at Orsomarso, then spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons on loan at Valledupar FC. A further loan took him to Tigres FC in 2024.
Asprilla joined Independiente Santa Fe as a free agent on 1 July 2025, once his time at Tigres had run its course. He was part of the Santa Fe squad that won the Liga Betplay Clausura in June 2025. At international level, he has yet to add a senior cap for Colombia, though he was called into training camps with the national squad in 2022.
