About the player
Martín Ezequiel Cañete came through the Boca Juniors youth ranks before his path forward opened up elsewhere. In January 2020, he joined Unión Santa Fe on loan, and made his professional debut for the club the following month. The move was made permanent in 2021.
A loan spell at Banfield took him through the 2023–2024 season, after which he returned to Unión Santa Fe. There, in 2025, he won the Copa Santa Fe, beating Centenario de San José de la Esquina on penalties after the tie finished 1-1 on aggregate. He also featured for the club in continental competition, appearing in the Copa Sudamericana in April 2023.
Cañete has since moved to Huachipato. He is a former Argentina under-19 international.
