About the player
Ignacio Russo Cordero came through the youth ranks at Gimnasia y Esgrima de Rosario and ADIUR before joining Rosario Central's academy in 2016, making his senior debut for the club in late 2020. Since then his career has followed a series of one-year loans away from Rosario, taking in Chacarita Juniors, Patronato and Instituto before he arrived at Tigre in January 2025. In January 2026, Tigre made that move permanent, exercising a purchase option to acquire half of his economic rights from Rosario Central.
The forward has scored during those loan spells. At Instituto he was named Man of the Match after scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Independiente. He scored at Tigre, where he scored a brace and again took Man of the Match honours in a 3-0 victory over Vélez Sarsfield during the Torneo Apertura 2025.
Russo Cordero has not featured for Argentina's youth national teams, and his club career has yet to bring a major title.
