About the player
Héctor Martín Garay made his professional debut for Estudiantes de Buenos Aires on 30 June 2017, coming on as a substitute against Colegiales. He went on to make around 84 appearances for the club, scoring five goals, and was part of the squad that won the Primera B Metropolitana Torneo Transición in 2020, a title that secured promotion to the Primera B Nacional.
Two loan spells followed at senior level. In 2021 he moved to Patronato, then in the Primera División, making his debut on 26 February against Defensa y Justicia and going on to play 26 matches, scoring once. He wore the number 21 shirt during that loan. The following year he joined Atlético Tucumán on loan, featuring 34 times in the Liga Profesional and twice in the Copa Argentina without finding the net.
Garay signed for Tigre on a permanent basis on 13 January 2023, taking the number 8 shirt. Since then he has surpassed 80 league appearances for the club, scored once, and featured in both the Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Argentina. Born in Mina Clavero, Córdoba, the Argentine midfielder is right-footed and can also be deployed as a winger.
