Juan Francisco Cornejo Palma

Juan Cornejo made his name at left-back, and his career reads as a steady climb through Chilean football before a run of titles at Universidad Católica. He came up through the Colo-Colo youth ranks but turned professional at Deportes Magallanes, where he won the Tercera División A in 2010 and was named the Primera B's Best Left-Back in 2012.

A free transfer to Audax Italiano followed in 2013, and it was there that Cornejo won the ANFP's Best Left-Back award for the 2014–2015 season and a place in the ANFP Ideal Team in 2015. Those performances also earned him two caps for Chile, both in 2015 — a debut in a 3-2 friendly win over the United States, followed by a defeat to Iran two months later.

A move to Mexican side Club León in 2017 took him abroad, though it was the loan back to Universidad Católica in 2019 that proved decisive. The loan was extended through 2020, and Cornejo joined permanently as a free agent in January 2021. His spell there brought sustained success of his career: Primera División titles in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and the Supercopa de Chile in all three of those years.

Spells at Deportes Antofagasta and then Coquimbo Unido followed, both as free-agent moves. At Coquimbo, Cornejo has added a Primera División title in 2025 and a Supercopa de Chile the following year.
