About the player
Jhon Jairo Jiménez Vega has built his career largely away from home. He started out with Guayaquil Sport and then Club Atlético Samborondón, and by 2023 he had taken his game abroad, first to Honduras with Marathón and then to Uruguay's Segunda División with Tacuarembó.
His path has run without the trophies or individual honours that often frame a defender's profile: no league titles, no cups, no Best XI selections. He has likewise not been called into Ecuador's senior national team. There is some uncertainty around one reported stint with Deportivo Cuenca, where a match report once listed him wearing the number 1, but this does not sit clearly within the confirmed sequence of his transfers and is not treated as an established chapter of his career.
