About the player
Matheus Aurélio's route to Chapecoense ran through Santa Catarina's smaller circuits before a loan brought him to the club in March 2026. The goalkeeper came up through Santos and Tanabi before joining Mirassol's academy, where he turned senior in 2017 and stayed with the São Paulo club until 2021. A loan to Náutico in 2019 gave him a Série C winner's medal, though he did not feature in the league that season. It was at Hercílio Luz, between 2021 and 2024, that he settled into regular first-team football, holding down the starting spot in the Santa Catarina state championship. A short loan spell at Caxias do Sul in 2022 brought him a single appearance before he returned to Hercílio Luz.
He moved to Tombense at the start of 2025, playing in that year's Campeonato Mineiro and in Série C. From there, on 26 March 2026, he was loaned to Chapecoense until December of that year, stepping in for Léo Vieira after his move to Bahia.
At 185 cm and right-footed, he arrives at Chapecoense with the profile of a goalkeeper.
