Solothurn secured a 28:25 victory over Bülach-Bienne in the Swiss Cup on Wednesday evening. The match took place on 17 September at 18:15, and the home side held firm through to the final whistle. It was a tight contest that resolved itself in the closing stages.
By then, Solothurn had already established their rhythm. They came into this fixture with momentum, having won four of their last five outings. Their most recent result saw them beat Zichtenthal 30:29, and before that they dropped a narrow one against Nyon. And here's the thing — consistency like that matters when you're playing knockout handball.
Bülach-Bienne, meanwhile, were the visitors and came away empty-handed. There is no further data on their recent form to draw from. What is clear is that Solothurn's experience showed through in the decisive moments. To be fair, the scoreline suggests a match where either side could have taken it.
The result keeps Solothurn's Swiss Cup ambitions alive. They have now moved through another round, and the next stage awaits. The goal difference from this fixture adds nothing of note — it was a three-goal margin, nothing more.
What stood out was the manner of the win rather than any single moment. Solothurn did not blow the game open early. They kept knocking on the door throughout, and eventually the pressure told. That is often how these cup ties are decided.
