Ayrton Enrique Costa

Ayrton Costa broke into professional football through Independiente's academy, which he joined in 2015 after starting out at Arsenal de Sarandí, Victoriano Arenas and Platense. He made his debut for the first team in the Copa de la Liga Profesional against Defensa y Justicia, and when his chance in the Primera División arrived against Vélez Sarsfield, he marked it by scoring his first professional goal. A loan spell at Platense followed, where he found the net again shortly after his debut there, before he returned to Independiente for a further two seasons.

In 2024 Costa moved abroad to Royal Antwerp, making his debut in the Belgian Pro League against Charleroi. His time in Belgium was brief: early in 2025 Boca Juniors paid around $3.5 million to sign him outright, and he put pen to paper on a contract running to the end of 2028. He wasted little time getting on the pitch for his new club, debuting in the Copa Argentina against Deportivo Armenio, and it took him until October this year to open his account for Boca, scoring against Newell's Old Boys.

Costa has been a regular fixture wherever he has played, passing 50 appearances at both Independiente and Boca. He has yet to add a major trophy to his career, and international recognition with Argentina has not come his way at any level. For now, his story is one of steady progression through Argentine football.
