Abel Paredes

Sportivo Ameliano's number 19 has spent most of his career earning a place rather than being handed one. Paredes came through Club Olimpia, part of the squad that won the Clausura title in 2015, but he was rarely more than a backup there and spent the following years searching for regular football elsewhere. A loan to Independiente F.B.C. brought only six appearances, and spells with Fernando de la Mora, Brazil's Sampaio Corrêa and Maringá, and a brief stop at Deportivo Santaní followed before he found stability.

That stability arrived in July 2022, when he joined Sportivo Ameliano on a free transfer. It proved the making of him: passing 80 appearances across all competitions and winning the Copa Paraguay and the Supercopa Paraguaya that year. Those performances were enough to draw the attention of Olimpia, and in December 2024 the two clubs agreed his return. He went back in January 2025, adding seven league appearances and a run in the Copa Libertadores.

His stay at Olimpia this time was short. By January 2026 Paredes was back at Sportivo Ameliano, once again on a free transfer, returning to the club where he had made his name as a regular. A left-back by trade, his career has been built on free moves and loans rather than fees, before Sportivo Ameliano gave him the consistent football he had been chasing since leaving Olimpia the first time.
