Alan Velasco

Alan Velasco stands out on a Boca Juniors pitch as much for his size as his footwork. He came through the youth ranks at Club Atlético Independiente, joining the academy as a boy and making his senior debut in 2019, when he was still a teenager.

His performances at Independiente, where he made 48 league appearances, caught attention abroad, and in February 2022 FC Dallas paid a club-record fee to sign him.

Velasco's move to Boca Juniors in January 2025 brought him back to Argentine football at a significant fee, with the deal including a sell-on clause benefiting his former club Independiente. His early spell at Boca was not without setbacks of its own — he missed a decisive penalty in the shootout against Alianza Lima in the Copa Libertadores in February 2025, a miss that ended Boca's run in the competition.

At international level, Velasco was called into the senior Argentina squad in September 2023 for World Cup qualifying matches against Ecuador and Bolivia, though he remained an unused substitute. He was also named on Goal.com's NXGN list of the best young players in 2021.
