About the player
Diego Oyarzún came through the Universidad Católica academy, winning the Campeonato Sub-18 with the youth side before ever making a senior appearance for the first team.
A permanent move to Palestino in 2016 marked his first fixed contract away from Católica, though it was brief. Stops at Huachipato followed, and in February 2021 he joined Everton de Viña del Mar on a free transfer.
It is at Everton where Oyarzún has built the most stable and lasting spell of his career. Since arriving on a two-year deal, he has become a fixture in the side, passing the 100-appearance mark for the club by September 2024. In December of that year he renewed his contract, extending his stay through the end of the 2025 season, with reports pointing to a further extension into 2026.
At youth level, Oyarzún represented Chile at the 2013 South American Youth Championship as part of the under-20 squad, though he has not been capped by the senior national team.
