Emanuel Hernán Mammana

Emanuel Mammana broke through at River Plate as a teenager and lifted continental silverware: a Copa Sudamericana, a Copa Libertadores and a Recopa Sudamericana all arrived before he turned 20. Olympique Lyonnais paid a fee reported between €7.5 million and €8.5 million to take him to France in January 2016.

The move to Lyon did not bring trophies, and in August 2017 Mammana headed to Russia, where Zenit Saint Petersburg paid €16 million for him. He took the Russian Premier League in 2018/19 and 2019/20 and the Russian Cup in 2019/20, though he later found his playing time restricted and spent two seasons on loan at PFC Sochi. His Zenit contract was terminated by mutual consent in January 2022, and he returned to River Plate as a free agent, where he added a further Primera División title and the Trofeo de Campeones in 2023 before moving on again.

In January 2024 he joined Vélez Sarsfield on a free transfer. Internationally, Mammana was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2015 South American Youth Championship at Under-20 level, though injury and selection issues kept him out of that year's Under-20 World Cup as well as the 2017 edition. At senior level, he made his Argentina debut in a friendly against Slovenia in June 2014 and has earned three caps for the national team.
