About the player
He made his senior debut for the club in 2016 having arrived on a free transfer from the youth ranks.
Martínez Quarta left Florence in January 2025, when River Plate brought him back for a reported €7 million — with Fiorentina's actual take reduced to €6.75 million once River deducted the 10% sell-on clause written into the original 2020 deal. He signed a contract at River running to December 2028.
His Argentina career has run in parallel with the club moves. He debuted for the national side on 5 September 2019 in a 5-0 friendly win over Chile, and has since gone on to collect 16 caps. He was part of the squad that won the Copa América in 2021, appearing twice, and won the trophy again in 2024 with one appearance. He was also a regular through the qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup, though that work did not translate into a place in the squad that went to Qatar.
