Lijabatho

The scoreline that finally told the story of Morija read 4–0, and it came against Lioli. That win, in the 2025–26 season, closed out the campaign on 62 points from 29 matches, four clear of Bantu FC, and gave a village side its first Lesotho Premier League title. Tumelo Khutlang scored a hat-trick in that match; head coach James Madidilane, a former South African international, was named Coach of the Season for his part in getting them there.

It had taken a long road to reach that night. Lijabatho spent years in the lower tiers before winning the Southern Stream A-Division in 2018/19, which lifted them into the top flight for the first time the following season. Lithuanian-language sources trace the club back to 1942, though the founding year does not appear in most other accounts. They play in black, at the Thabeng High School Ground in Morija, known locally as the Lijabatho Ground.

The title carried them into the preliminary round of the 2026–27 CAF Champions League against Madagascar's CFFA Andoharanofotsy. The first leg, played in Mauritius on 5 September 2026, was lost 0–2, leaving the return leg in Johannesburg a week later.

Morija has no other club in the top flight to give Lijabatho a derby in the usual sense, so their rivalries run along national lines instead: with Lioli, the Teyateyaneng club they dethroned, and with Bantu FC, the Mafeteng side they finished four points ahead of. Both remain the measure Lijabatho are now judged against.
