Five Cambodian Premier League titles in twelve years tell only part of the story at Svay Rieng.

The club began in 1997 as Royal Sword FC, founded by General Sao Sokha, and only became Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC after a 2013 move to Svay Rieng city gave it the name and base it now carries. The nickname, the Blue Swords, keeps both halves of that history alive — the sword from Preah Khan Reach, the blue from the kit.

Marcus Haber scored 56 goals in 56 appearances between 2022 and 2024, while Prak Mony Udom has captained the side since 2010.

Continental football has pushed the club further than most in Cambodia manage: back-to-back AFC Challenge League finals, lost 2–1 to FK Arkadag in 2024–25 and 4–3 to Al-Kuwait a year later. Svay Rieng Stadium holds the team for domestic business, but for nights that size the club has needed the 60,000 seats of the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh instead.
