Suduva Marijampole moved away from the pack with a comfortable 3-0 win over Banga in the A Liga's 26th round on Saturday. The visitors took control early, with F. Tangiri opening the scoring in the fifth minute before Banga could settle into their rhythm.
And here's the thing about the first half — Suduva didn't need much. S. M. Sanokho doubled the lead just before the break, then S. Lawson added a third in the 54th minute to put the tie beyond doubt. Banga's defenders got dragged out of position time and again, and by then the visitors had already switched off at the back.
There was an unnamed eighth-minute goal on the board, but the damage had long been done. Suduva's attacking accuracy told the story — four shots on target from four attempts compared to Banga's 50 per cent conversion rate across their efforts. The hosts had more possession at 58 per cent but gave up the ball and hit them on the break whenever they tried to build something.
Three yellow cards came for Banga — E. Stockunas in the 15th, Z. Baltrunas in the 32nd, and V. Antuzis in the 53rd — while Suduva's V. Antuzis was among the first substitutions in the 66th minute. Five changes were made across the final hour, with I. Seck, V. Magdusauskas and A. Sabo all coming on for the home side.
By then the table told its own story. Suduva sit top with 48 points from 26 games, while Banga remain fifth on 38. The visitors have now won three of their last five league outings, with only a 0-0 draw against TransInvest Vilnius interrupting their run.
