TransInvest Vilnius secured a 2:1 away win against Hegelmann Litva in the A Lyga regular season on 2 August. The result moved the visitors into fourth place while the hosts remain in eighth with 24 points from 27 matches. It was a match decided in three moments rather than 90 minutes of possession.
And here's the thing about that first goal — Hegelmann took the lead inside 20 minutes through B. Isaac's own effort at the 17th minute. The visitors were still adjusting when the ball turned against them, and suddenly they were chasing the game. By then you could see the shift in shape, the away side pushing higher to find an equaliser.
Xabi Auzmendi levelled things at 52 minutes, a straightforward finish that came after the home side had dallied on the ball for too long in their own half. To be fair, Hegelmann had controlled territory but lacked penetration. The goal changed the complexion entirely, and suddenly the visitors were the ones pressing for a winner.
D. Slendzoka did the damage at 72 minutes, curling home a second goal that kept them in it when the match could have gone either way. Hegelmann pushed forward, but the away defence held on grimly through three yellow cards — two for the hosts at 89 and 90+3, one for TransInvest at the same stoppage time.
The statistics tell a familiar story. Hegelmann had 55 per cent possession and nine corners, yet managed only one shot on target from 36 attacks. TransInvest pressed with 45 per cent possession and two corners, but converted their efficiency into two goals. One shot on target each side, but different results.
For Hegelmann, this extends a run that includes defeats to Žalgiris and Sūduva, while TransInvest build on their 11 wins from 26 games. The gap between fourth and eighth is now 15 points, and the visitors look comfortable in their position. That is how you win matches — not with possession, but with moments.
