Bala Town moved up to third place in the Welsh Championship with a 2-1 win over Portmadog in the North section on Saturday. The visitors took all three points after a match where the momentum shifted twice in the second half. The result means Bala now sits four points clear at the top of their division.
Portmadog started brighter and took the lead through T. Kelly in the 25th minute. The home side pushed forward with purpose, looking to build on that early advantage. By then they were already talking about a first home win of the campaign.
Bala responded well and found their way back into it. C. Fisher levelled the scores in the 48th minute after a patient build-up. The equaliser changed the tone of the game entirely.
L. O. Baum put the visitors ahead for good in the 57th minute. That goal came from a quick transition and he finished with composure. And here's the thing about this side — they don't panic when they concede.
Portmadog now sit seventh with 11 points from seven games. They have one more game than Bala but trail by four points. A tough run of fixtures ahead if they want to stay in touch.
Bala dropped points against Newtown last time out but bounced back quickly. Five wins from six games shows consistency at this level. By then they had already proved they could handle pressure away from home.
