Boston United moved up the National League table with a 2-0 victory over Solihull Moors at the New Lawn on Saturday. The result lifted the visitors to 15th place with seven points from six games, while the hosts remained rooted in 24th position with a solitary point.
L. Wheeldon opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing a move that carved Solihull open. The home side had enjoyed 57 per cent possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances, managing only one shot on target before the break.
By then, Boston had changed their approach. K. Aboh doubled the advantage shortly after the restart, slotting home in the 48th minute to put the visitors firmly in control. Solihull picked up two bookings in five minutes around that period, and the momentum had shifted decisively.
Things came to a head in the 82nd minute when T. Cursons missed a penalty for the hosts. The chance to get back into the game slipped away, and Boston substituted Wheeldon and Warren as they looked to see out the remaining minutes with composure.
The statistics told a familiar story: Boston fired 14 shots with eight on target, while Solihull managed just four attempts with one on target. The visitors showed 44 per cent shooting accuracy compared to the hosts' 17 per cent, and their goalkeeper made only a single save.
The result extended Boston's unbeaten streak to three matches, with two wins and a draw in that run. Solihull's defeat left them five points adrift of safety with three games remaining, and the pressure will only intensify.
