Ilya Samsonov Signs One-Year Deal with San Jose

Goaltender Ilya Samsonov joins San Jose on a two-way contract after leaving Sochi, where he posted a .903 save percentage in 14 KHL games this season.

San Jose Sharks have acquired goaltender Ilya Samsonov on a one-year, two-way contract, as announced by general manager Mike Grier.

The goaltender was without a club after Sochi terminated his deal on 9 June at the player's own request. Sochi then traded his rights to Metallurg, but Samsonov instead moves to the NHL side.

In the 2025/26 season he made 14 appearances for Sochi in the KHL's Fonbet regular season, saving 90.3% of shots faced with a 3.27 goals-against average.
