Radulov Relives Lokomotiv's Comeback vs Avangard

Lokomotiv forward Alexander Radulov recalled trailing 0-2 in Gagarin Cup semi-final Game 6, then scoring twice in 33 seconds before winning in double overtime.

Alexander Radulov has looked back at the sixth game of last season's Gagarin Cup semi-final against Avangard, when Lokomotiv trailed 0-2 in the third period and scored twice in the space of 33 seconds before winning in double overtime.

Lokomotiv were 2-3 down in the series going into that match and had also lost the opening period 0-1. Radulov said the mood in the dressing room after the first period had not been one of despair, but the deficit doubled inside the opening shift of the third, and for long spells after that the game stayed scrappy, with Yaroslavl unable to create clean chances against a well-organised Omsk side.

He said the team switched to three forward lines as the period wore on and chances began to arrive one after another — a shot that went just wide, one blocked, another kept alive by Nikita Serebryakov — before belief rather than any tactical shift produced the breakthrough. Radulov recalled celebrating the equaliser with a teammate who checked the clock and urged him to hurry, with 33 seconds still on it before the second goal arrived from the ensuing faceoff sequence.

Lokomotiv went on to win the game 3-2 in the second overtime, forcing a seventh match in the series.
