Kvartalnov Claims 79th Win as Lokomotiv Coach
Dmitri Kvartalnov beat Severstal 2:1 in overtime for his 79th win with Lokomotiv, moving past Kari Heikkila into third on the club's all-time list.
Kvartalnov returned to Lokomotiv this past off-season. He had already coached the side once before, from 2017 to 2019.
Alexei Kudashov holds second place on the list with 96 wins. Igor Nikitin remains the record-holder with 188.
The reigning champions opened the campaign with a 5:1 rout of Traktor, in which 18-year-old forward Matvei Kotkov scored the first goal, before losing 0:1 to Dinamo Moscow in a game that turned on a penalty later confirmed as correct by Russia's refereeing commission.
