Matvey Michkov Recalls Awkward Jersey Swap With Ovechkin
Philadelphia forward Matvey Michkov detailed the embarrassing mix-up when Washington's Alexander Ovechkin got a jersey but he didn't, then a delayed mailing followed.
Matvey Michkov, the Philadelphia forward, has described the awkward aftermath of a pre-arranged jersey swap with Washington's Alexander Ovechkin.
"We had a head-to-head match, and it turned out that the team administrator didn't give me my jersey and forbade the swap. I told him I'd already agreed to it. Before the game I wrote to him [Ovechkin]: 'Can we swap jerseys?' Sasha said yes, sure, he'd sign it. And in the end he comes out after the game with the jersey, and they didn't give me one, I'm standing there without a jersey like an idiot, not knowing what to say to him, I feel embarrassed that I wrote to him and I don't even have a jersey. He ended up giving me the jersey and said: 'Send me one later.' I sent it to him, and now at the All-Star Game he tells me the jersey never arrived, asks if I'm out of my mind," said Michkov.
