Ovechkin Appears in United Russia Campaign Video

The Washington Capitals forward features in the background of a United Russia clip ahead of State Duma elections, alongside Lavrov, Simonyan and Mashkov.

Alexander Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals Forward, has appeared in a campaign video released by the Russian party United Russia, according to Vedomosti.

The party has launched a series of clips built around figures on its candidate list ahead of the State Duma elections, which run from 18 to 20 September 2026. Ovechkin features in the background of one such clip, centred on remarks from Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov.

Also appearing in the video alongside Lavrov are RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, actor Vladimir Mashkov and singer Tatiana Kurtukova. Candidates from 10 parties, United Russia among them, are contesting the 450 seats of the ninth State Duma.
