Poturalski Winner Lifts Avangard Past Avtomobilist

Avangard came from 0-2 down for the second match running and won in overtime, beating Avtomobilist 3-2 at home in the Fonbet KHL Championship.

Avtomobilist led by two goals until the 42nd minute, when Andrew Poturalski pulled one back. Dmitri Rashevsky levelled it at 2-2 in the 45th minute. Poturalski then settled it with his second of the night in the 61st minute, in overtime.

It is a pattern now. Avangard trailed Metallurg 0-2 in their previous match and won that one 3-2 in overtime too, with Poturalski again scoring the winner.

Guy Boucher's side have three wins from four games this season, six points, fifth in the Eastern Conference. Avtomobilist, under Alexei Kudashov, sit fourth on the same six points but have three defeats in five outings.

Avangard have managed this without Michael McLeod, who left the ice against Salavat Yulaev and is not expected back before late October or November. Poturalski has picked up the scoring load in his absence.
