Sibir: Beck Stayed Home Due to Injury Recurrence
Sibir GM Lev Krutokhvostov says forward Taylor Beck skipped the trip to Sochi after old injury pain returned, not for safety reasons as earlier reported.
Sibir general manager Lev Krutokhvostov has explained why forward Taylor Beck stayed behind in Novosibirsk instead of travelling with the squad for the away fixture against Sochi on 20 September.
"Beck had a recurrence of an old minor injury after the match with Avtomobilist. He had already had a check-up before the game with Neftekhimik. After the match in Minsk the discomfort returned, which is why he did not go to Sochi. He has gone to Novosibirsk for an examination — we decided to look after the player and let him reset. We should have a diagnosis tomorrow or the day after, and then we will know when he can return. We are counting on him a great deal in the coming home matches," Krutokhvostov said.
Earlier reports had suggested Beck skipped the trip to Sochi because of the tense situation in southern Russia. Krutokhvostov's explanation points instead to a fitness issue.
