Scott Gordon Praises Russian Anthem After Traktor Win
Traktor's Canadian coach Scott Gordon said he enjoys hearing Russia's anthem, after his team beat Dinamo Moscow 2-1 in overtime to snap a three-game losing skid.
"I am having an incredible experience, and I am happy with everything. I enjoy every match, including the wonderful Russian anthem. It is a beautiful piece of music with a special spirit of its own," Gordon said, quoted by TASS.
The Canadian spoke after Traktor beat Dinamo Moscow 2-1 in overtime on September 28. The win followed three straight defeats by 1-2, two of them games in which Traktor had goals disallowed.
Gordon also explained a heated touchline exchange with forward Mikhail Grigorenko during the match.
"Discussions can get loud, and from the outside they can look harsh. As coaches, we have to give players what we expect from them. I have said many times that we have excellent players in this group," he said.
Traktor sit 11th in the Eastern Conference on 6 points. The side travel to face Spartak on September 30.
A win over a side like Dinamo may ease some of the pressure after the three-match slide, though a trip to Spartak will offer a clearer test of whether Traktor's improved play in the attacking zone translates into results.
