Thomas Chabot Named New Senators Captain
Ottawa has appointed Thomas Chabot as its 11th captain, succeeding Brady Tkachuk, who departed for Florida in the offseason.
Thomas Chabot has been named the 11th captain in Ottawa Senators history, taking over from Brady Tkachuk, who moved on to Florida.
The 29-year-old Canadian defenceman has spent more than a decade in the Senators' system and made his NHL debut in the 2016/17 season. General manager Steve Staios announced the decision.
"Thomas embodies everything we want to see in a Senators player. He is committed to the city and the club. For him, the team always comes first," Staios said.
Claude Giroux, Jake Sanderson and Tim Stützle have been named as Chabot's assistants. Chabot put up 31 points (7+24) in 57 games last season.
