Alagi Wally

Alagi Wally arrived at Veres Rivne in July 2025 as the club's first-ever Gambian signing, joining on a free transfer and putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. The move followed a run of goalscoring form at home that had made him one of the more closely watched forwards in Gambian football. At Hawks FC he built a reputation as a prolific finisher, scoring 31 goals in 53 appearances across his time at the club, including an 18-goal league campaign that helped Hawks earn promotion to the GFA League First Division. He remained a leading scorer in that division through the 2024/2025 season, netting seven league goals by May 2025.

Wally made his Veres Rivne debut on 2 August 2025 in a Ukrainian Premier League match away to Dynamo Kyiv, a game Veres lost 0-1. He now wears the number 20 shirt for the club. The step up from Gambian domestic football to the Ukrainian top flight has meant adjusting to a more physical style of play, an adaptation still under way in his early months at the club.

His form for Hawks earned him international recognition as well. Wally represented Gambia at under-20 level, scoring once in four appearances, before being called into the senior national team by coach Johnathan McKinstry. He made his senior debut on 6 June 2025 as a substitute in a friendly against Equatorial Guinea, one of only two locally-based players in the squad at the time.
