About the player
David Niyo's rise came fast: from the youth ranks at APR FC, via the feeder side Intare FC, he was sent out on loan to Kiyovu Sports to get first-team minutes, and he took the chance. In the first half of the 2025/26 season he scored three goals and set up four more, picking up three Man of the Match awards and a Player of the Week honour along the way.
That form was enough to take him to Turkey for a trial, and when it went well he signed a five-year contract with NK Veres Rivne in February 2026. The transfer fee has not been made public, but the deal includes a cash bonus for APR FC and a 20% cut of any future resale.
Settling into Ukrainian football has taken time. Across the opening of the 2026/27 Ukrainian Premier League season, Niyo has been used sparingly, with four appearances totalling 105 minutes, no goals or assists yet, and a single yellow card. He has also been named among the current internationals for Rwanda, though he is yet to win a senior cap.
