About the player
Federico Pereira came through the youth ranks at Liverpool Montevideo and made his professional debut for the club in May 2019, staying until 2023. In that spell he won the Uruguayan Primera División title and the Supercopa Uruguaya, and he was named to the league's Team of the Year in three separate seasons before being voted Player of the Year in 2023, the season Liverpool Montevideo also took the title.
In December 2023 he moved to Mexican side Toluca, with Liverpool Montevideo retaining a stake in his future sporting rights, and he joined in time for the Clausura 2024 tournament. The switch has coincided with a run of silverware: Pereira has won the Clausura 2025 and Apertura 2025 Liga MX titles, the Campeón de Campeones against Club América and the Campeones Cup against LA Galaxy, before adding the CONCACAF Champions Cup on penalties against Tigres UANL and the Leagues Cup with a win over Monterrey. He was also picked for the Liga MX All-Star team.
A brief loan spell took him to Pachuca in June 2025 for the FIFA Club World Cup, where he started against Real Madrid in a 3-1 defeat before returning to Toluca once Pachuca were eliminated at the group stage.
At international level, Pereira has been named in preliminary Uruguay squads — for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and later for the tournament itself.
