About the player
Gwion Edwards came through the youth ranks at Aberystwyth Town before Swansea City took him into their academy in 2007. He signed his first professional contract with the Welsh club in 2011 and had it extended the following year.
It was there that Edwards became a regular fixture on the wing, scoring 15 goals in 93 appearances across all competitions. He continued to be used mainly on the left and added a further 16 goals in 74 games.
His move to Ipswich Town in July 2018, for a reported £700,000, was a significant transfer of his career. Signed on a two-year deal with a club option for a third season, he appeared 108 times and scored 14 goals before the option was triggered in May 2020.
Edwards returned to England in 2024, agreeing a new contract that season.
