About the player
Jannis Boziaris was born in Karlsruhe. His youth career ran through FV Grünwinkel, two spells at Karlsruher SC either side of a year at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and SV Karlsruhe-Beiertheim, before he made his senior debut for FC-Astoria Walldorf in the Regionalliga Südwest in March 2022.
The move that put him on the map came a few months later, when he joined VfB Stuttgart II. Across 36 league appearances there he scored six goals and was part of the squad that won the Regionalliga Südwest title in 2024, earning promotion to the 3. Liga. Boziaris returned to FC-Astoria Walldorf that summer, and the 2024/25 season turned into his breakthrough: he started all 31 league matches, scored 11 goals and added seven assists.
That form took him to Energie Cottbus in May 2025, the club's first signing of the 2025/26 season. He scored four goals in his debut campaign. The goal secured Cottbus second place in the 3. Liga and promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, ending a twelve-year absence from the division. It was later nominated for Sportschau's "Tor des Monats" award.
