Leonardo Julián Balerdi Rosa

Balerdi's move to Marseille began as a loan in the summer of 2020, an arrangement that Olympique made permanent a year later for around €15.5 million, after he had scored two goals in 21 Ligue 1 appearances during that spell. He had arrived in Europe from Boca Juniors, where he made five appearances before Borussia Dortmund signed him in January 2019 for a fee reported between €12 million and €15 million.

In February 2021, while still on loan and nominally a Dortmund player, he was sent off against Bordeaux. In March 2023, he was shown red against Strasbourg for shoving Habib Diallo, an incident that sparked protests among Marseille's supporters. On the more productive side, he scored his first official goal for the club in October 2020 against Lorient, and headed home against Sporting CP in the Champions League in October 2022.

At international level, Balerdi made his debut for Argentina on 10 September 2019 against Mexico and has since gathered 11 caps.
