About the player
Megan Reid had already stepped away from professional football once before her career began in earnest. After playing college soccer at the University of Virginia, where she was named to the All-ACC First Team and reached the Hermann Trophy semi-finals in a 2020 season truncated by the pandemic, she turned down a place in the 2018 NWSL Draft following her father's death. Between 2018 and 2021 she worked as a volunteer firefighter and as an EMT and paramedic in Virginia and California, playing only semi-professionally for Lamorinda SC in the WPSL, with whom she won the league title in 2021.
A brief spell with FC Thy-Thisted Q in Denmark and a preseason trial with San Diego Wave FC did not produce a contract, but a tryout with Angel City FC in 2022 finally did. She went on to make 72 league appearances for the club, re-signing in January 2024 before, in November 2025, agreeing a three-year contract with Denver Summit FC.
Reid qualifies for Canada through her mother and made her senior international debut for the national team in 2024, having previously represented the United States at U-20 and U-23 level. By the 2025 Pinatar Cup she had earned three senior caps for Canada, scoring her first international goal in that tournament against Chinese Taipei.
