Oliver Maziarz

Oliwier Maziarz came up through the youth system at AP Sparta Zabrze before moving to Zagłębie Lubin and then GKS Katowice, where he spent four years as a teenager. Piast Gliwice took him into their academy in 2021, and from there his path briefly left Poland altogether: he spent a season with 1. FC Nürnberg's under-19 side in Germany before a short spell at ASV Neumarkt. He returned to Piast Gliwice on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2028.

Maziarz made his senior breakthrough with the club that had first developed him. His opening goal in Piast colours came in a friendly against the Czech side SK Sigma Olomouc, which Piast won 2-0. He followed that up with a league goal against Wieczysta Kraków, by which point he had already made his Ekstraklasa debut for the club.

Maziarz offers Piast Gliwice an option in central midfield, still only in the early stages of a senior career that has so far been built on patience: years of academy football at three different Polish clubs, a foreign detour in Germany, and a return home that has started to pay off in first-team minutes.
