About the player
Seven goals in the 2023–24 UEFA Youth League made Rodrigo Mora the competition's joint top scorer, and the finishing carried straight into the summer: five more at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, again enough for a share of the golden boot, along with a place in the Team of the Tournament.
He had joined the FC Porto academy in 2016, arriving from Custóias after a year away from organised football. The professional debut came for Porto B in January 2023, and by the 2024–25 season he had been promoted to the first team, taking the number 86 shirt. In April 2025 he was named Primeira Liga Player of the Month.
The medals followed. Mora won the Primeira Liga with Porto in 2025–26 and the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in 2026. He was also in the Portugal senior squad that won the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League, though he did not play in the tournament. He continues to represent Portugal at Under-21 level.
In August 2026 he left for AS Roma in a deal structured unusually carefully. Roma paid an initial €25 million for 50% of his economic rights, with an option to buy the remaining half for a further €25 million. Porto kept a 50% sell-on clause, and a release clause of €120 million was written into the contract.
