About the player
Yanis Cimignani's route to professional football ran through Corsica rather than his native Lyon. He joined US Ghisonaccia as a boy in 2005 and moved through SC Bastia's academy before AC Ajaccio picked him up in 2017, taking him from the youth ranks through to the reserve side. He signed his first professional contract with Ajaccio in January 2020, and by the time his deal expired three years later he had made 48 senior appearances for the club.
In June 2023 Cimignani moved to FC Lugano on a free transfer, agreeing a four-year contract that runs until 2027.
At international level, Cimignani has represented France at under-20 level, winning six caps and scoring twice in 2022, a run that included the Toulon Tournament. He has not featured for the senior French national team.
