Khabarovsk sits at the edge of Russia's hockey map, far enough east that its senior club, HC Amur, has long needed its own pipeline rather than waiting on players sent from elsewhere. Amur Tigers, known locally as Amur-2, was set up in 2010 to be that pipeline.

The team plays out of the Platinum Arena.

The clearest sign the project works came in 2013, when the junior side won the Asian Cup of Call, a title reserved for youth teams. More recently, the 2023/2024 season brought the Silver Division title in the Western Conference.
