Games against MHK Humenné and HC Prešov carry the weight in the Prešov Region. It won the 1. Slovenská národná hokejová liga twice running, in 2011/12 and 2012/13, seasons remembered locally through Juraj Dancsák, who captained both title runs, and Ladislav Ščurko, the league's top scorer in the second of them before Philadelphia Flyers drafted him. Those championships carried no route upward — the farm-team arrangement with Košice left HC 46 ineligible for promotion to the Extraliga regardless of where it finished. The club folded in 2016, and a successor, HK Bardejov, took up the name and the colours, red, blue and white, without a break in the town's hockey calendar. HK Bardejov now plays out of the Mestský zimný štadión, a ground that seats 1,911.
