BM Granollers Women

The Palau d'Esports de Granollers holds 5,685 spectators, built for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and still the setting for whatever the women's section of Club Balonmano Granollers puts together on a given weekend. The section itself dates to 1967, twenty-three years after the men's club that carries the same badge.

Promotion arrived in 2013–14, when the team took the División de Honor Plata and moved up into the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola. It mattered beyond the trophy cabinet: for the first time, both the men's and women's sides of the club were playing in Spain's top category at once. The league title has stayed out of reach since, and so has the Copa de la Reina, though 2025 brought the club within one game of it — a final lost to Bera Bera. Closer to home, the Supercopa de Cataluña has become something like a fixture of the calendar.

What the club has built its reputation on is production rather than acquisition. Judith Vizuete came through the academy, topped the league's scoring charts in 2018–19, left, and returned in 2025. Kadidiatou Jallow, born in Granollers, made her debut in 2023–24. Europe has offered brief, encouraging runs — a semi-final in the 2019–20 Challenge Cup, a quarter-final in the EHF European Cup four seasons later — rather than anything sustained.

None of it carries the weight of the derby against FC Barcelona Handbol, the fixture Granollers people simply call the Catalan derby.
