Two clubs in Elche, Estudiantes and San Fernando, merged in 1958 to produce Club Balonmano Elche, known through a sponsorship spell between 2002 and 2019 as the Elche Mustangs.

The club wears white and green, a "franjiverde" pattern lifted straight from Elche CF's own kit.

Ana Isabel Martínez Martínez left the club the way few players get to: with that 2021 Copa de la Reina medal as her last piece of silverware.

The team moved grounds in 2022, leaving the Zoilo Martín de la Sierra pavilion in Carrús for the Pabellón Municipal Esperanza Lag, which holds 1,814.
