Sala LPS Slatina holds two hundred people. The club has needed two spells in the second tier to work its way to the top flight, winning Divizia A in 2016–17 and again in 2023–24. Neither run in Liga Națională has produced anything grander than a tenth-place finish, reached twice, in 2019–20 and 2020–21, and the Romanian Cup has never gone beyond the early rounds.

CSM Slatina was set up by the city council in 2009, a municipal club rather than one grown from an older sporting society. The one fixture that carries any real weight is against SCM Craiova, played as the Oltenia Derby; the region's other club, SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, has never generated the same interest despite the shared geography.
