Hall A of the Halmstad Arena holds 3,880 for handball, and it is where Drott's women play. That team, wearing the same red and white, has taken eleven Swedish Championships and built a rivalry with Redbergslids IK. The women's team dates to 1943, before switching wholly to handball in 1940. Their one season among Sweden's elite came in 1972/1973, in the Elitserien; since then they have settled into Division 1 Södra and the lower tiers, without a Swedish Championship or Swedish Cup to their name.

In 2018 the wider club came close to disappearing altogether. Drott had merged its youth structure with local rival HBP (Halmstads Ballplayare) under the banner Handbollen i Halmstad, though the senior women's team stayed separate from HBP's own.
