LUGI HF Women

Sparbanken Skåne Arena holds 3,000 for handball and stretches to 4,000 when a concert takes over the floor. The hall is Lugi HF Women's home in Lund, and it fills with wine red, the colour that gives the club its nickname, Vinrött. The biggest nights are the Lundaderby against H43 Lund.

The women have been part of Lugi since the handball section was formed in 1941, a section of a sports club that dated from 1912. In 1993 the section became an independent association, Lugi Handbollsförening, but it kept playing under the LUGI name. Much of the team's identity comes from its academy. Jessica Ryde, Clara Monti Danielsson and Anna Lagerquist all came through it.

Sabina Jacobsen shows how that pipeline worked. She made her debut at 16 in 2005 and was the team's top scorer from 2007 to 2009. In 2010 Lugi reached the semi-finals of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup. In 2011 the junior team won the Swedish junior championship. In the next two seasons the senior side reached the national final.

He is now head coach of the Swedish women's national team.

Both finals, in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013, went to IK Sävehof. The Swedish championship gold has not come to Lund.
