Flint Town United

Flint's shipbuilding and lead works drew workers to the town in numbers through the late nineteenth century, and by 1886 they had a football club to follow. It went by Flint F.C. at first, then Flint Town, changing shape twice more before the modern club emerged: a 1905 merger with Flint UAC kept the Flint Town name, and in 1946 Flint Town joined with Flint Athletic to become Flint Town United.

The Silkmen's best season came in 1953-54, when they won the Welsh Cup, and they added the Cymru Alliance title in 1990-91 after topping the Welsh Alliance League two seasons earlier. Billy Hughes and Emlyn Jones are the names still raised when the club's history comes up, alongside Thomas Bartley.

Deeside Derby weekends against Connah's Quay Nomads are the fixture that sharpens attention along the Dee estuary, with Holywell Town supplying the other local rivalry.

Matches are played at the Essity Stadium, known for most of the club's history as Cae-y-Castell, where 3,000 can fit in and 250 of them get a seat.
