The club that took the district's name has spent most of its existence turning out players rather than trophies.

The club was founded on 13 April 1942. The honours that survive from that period are modest: Division 2 Östra Svealand in 1998, then again in 2000 and 2001.

The route upward, when it came, ran through play-offs — BP got over the line in 2006 and again in 2008 — before the club learnt to win its division outright. Division 1 Norra in 2016 was followed immediately by Superettan in 2017, back-to-back promotions that carried the side from the third tier to Allsvenskan in two seasons. The second Superettan title, in 2022, was the more convincing piece of work: the same trick performed by a club that by then knew what the top flight looked like. There is no Svenska Cupen on the honours board.

Home is Grimsta IP, out in Vällingby, with room for 4,729. Blue and white, a ground that holds a fraction of what the bigger Stockholm clubs fill, and a district that supplies the players — that combination has been the club's whole identity for eight decades, and the smallness of the place is not incidental to it.
